Common Questions
How do I know if I need a quick fix, a refresh or a rebuild?
Start with the free report. It’ll tell you what’s actually wrong. If it’s one or two things, a quick fix will do. If there are multiple issues but the site’s fundamentally sound, that’s a refresh. If the foundations are broken (outdated platform, no mobile support, can’t be maintained), that’s a rebuild. We’ll be honest about which one you need.
What if the quick fix reveals bigger problems?
Then we’ll tell you. You’ll still walk away with a noticeable improvement from the session. If there’s more to do, we’ll plan that separately. No pressure.
Can I start with a quick fix and add more later?
Absolutely. That’s how many of our ongoing clients started. One fix, then another, then a care plan. There’s no minimum commitment.
Do I need to be on a care plan to book a quick fix?
No. Quick fixes and refreshes are standalone services. Though if you want ongoing support after we’ve done the work, our care plans start from £39/month.
What if my site is on Wix/Squarespace/something other than WordPress?
We can still do the report and advise on what’s possible. Some quick fixes work on any platform. If the platform itself is the problem, we’ll tell you, and a refresh or rebuild onto WordPress might be the right move.
What if I don’t like the design?
Every project includes two structured revision rounds. We don’t start building until the direction is agreed, so there are no nasty surprises.
What happens to my existing content?
We migrate everything that’s worth keeping. Content, images, blog posts: nothing gets lost. We’ll also flag anything that needs updating or rewriting.
Can I update the site myself afterwards?
Yes. Every site is built on WordPress so you can manage your own content. You’ll get a video walkthrough of your site, and we’re only an email away if you get stuck. If you’d rather not deal with updates at all, that’s what the Care Plans are for.
Do I own the website?
Yes, 100%. The site, the code, the content: it’s all yours. Always.
How long does a rebuild take?
Most projects take 4-8 weeks from discovery to launch, depending on scope and how quickly content is provided.
Case Study: Motor Marks
The problem: A 40-year-old family business selling personalised registrations, still running on a PrestaShop site we built over a decade ago. The custom search engine (40M+ registrations, DVLA integration) was solid, but the platform had become impossible to update without a developer.
What we did: Full rebuild from PrestaShop to WordPress + WooCommerce. Rebuilt the search functionality on a modern platform. Mobile-first design. CMS training so the team can manage their own content.
- Search function preserved and modernised
- Full control returned to the business owners
- Mobile-first responsive design throughout
- Platform built to last another decade
“We’ve relied on the search function EDS built for over ten years. It’s the backbone of our business.”
